Success Is Loving What You Do

Allow your own feelings, values, and thoughts to determine what you do for a living.  People get into trouble when they allow their family, friends, society, and own misconceptions to control their career decisions which leaves them feeling resentful, manipulated, and worn out.  However demanding your work may be, if you love what your doing than you will be up for any challenge.

Nothing's Better Than Fun

We all spend plenty of hours with our clients. I'm sure our clients will appreciate it if we had a bounce in our step and a smile on our face rather than a dour disposition which some sales people mistakenly associate as professionalism.  Don’t ever lose your sense of humor and help your clients to have some fun.

The Client is King

Don’t overlook the fact that you are working for a client.  The client doesn't like surprises so keep them informed. What the client wants should be your top priority.

Nothing More Than Feelings

Your client will be influence by 1/3 of what they read, 1/2 of what they hear, but 100% of what they feel.  A client needs to be communicated to in a way that makes them feel what they need to do.

It's OK Not Knowing Everything

You are not expected to know the answer to everything.  Learn to say, “I don’t know.” If used when appropriate, it will be often.  Simply say "I don't know"—and go get an answer.  Your clients will respect you for that rather than your B.S. embarrassing you.

Extraordinary Execution Accelerates Results

In completing a closing, don’t wait for others; go after them, and make sure it gets done. Confirm your instructions and the commitments of others in writing. Don’t assume it will get done! Constantly review developments to make sure that the actual tasks are completed. Don’t be known as a good starter but a poor finisher.

Reputation is Everything

When dealing with others, remember that you represent the company. Be careful of the legality and accuracy of your statements.  My father always said, "You were given a good name when you came into this world; return it the way you got it."

Quickly Conquer Problems Before They Conquer You

Problems are not like wine and cheese; they don't get better with age. Don’t get frustrated by problems, keep yourself positive.  Hold the person responsible for the problem by confronting them with consequences.  Never direct a complaint to a superior unless there is no other way around it.  Be opened minded to different solutions to a problem.

Persistence Pays Off

Persistence is the disposition to persevere in spite of difficulties, discouragement, or indifference.  Cultivate the habit of “boiling matters down” to the simplest terms to get their attention. Don’t be timid; speak up. Express yourself, and promote your ideas.  Your client will eventually come around.

Rejection Isn't Bad

Rejection isn't bad because it is an act of trying to succeed.  Free will allows us to do what we love and gives others the free will to do what they love.  There is no shame in that.  Keep doing what you love, which is helping people.
